One caveat, wear good shoes, preferably not sandals, when walking around the historic areas of Savannah as the old brick sidewalks and streets remain and are often damaged, missing bricks or are uneven. Eliza Thompson House, Historic Inns of Savannah: A Great Stay in Savannah - See 2,381 traveler reviews, 795 candid photos, and great deals for Eliza Thompson House, Historic Inns of Savannah at Tripadvisor. We enjoyed the House so much we may on a future vacation do just the reverse, fly to Savannah for a few days and then drive to Florida. By the way Alamo (good) did not charge us the drop off fee we would have had to pay for leaving the car in Savannah since we were evacuating because of the storm. A special thanks to Matthew Watson and his wife who is also on the staff, for tending to our every need. The entire staff is hardworking and wonderful. We took our deserts down to the courtyard and enjoyed them there. When we got back, sure enough there it was in our room. My wife and friends were going out to dinner so we asked if they could put aside some desert for us to have when we returned. Popular attractions River Street and Forsyth Park are located nearby. Our guests praise the breakfast and the helpful staff in our reviews. Enjoy free breakfast, free WiFi, and onsite parking. In the evening they have a wine and cheese hour and later they serve desert (amazing). Stay at this 4-star historic B&B in Savannah. They have an open courtyard in the back where you can sit and relax and where they also serve a wonderful breakfast (not the standard fare you get in most chain hotels, ie: the french toast was home made). The rooms were clean and the bed comfortable. We saw six people in an "open top, convertible hearse" getting a tour of the town). This price is based on the lowest nightly price found in the last 24 hours for stays in the next 30 days. First I did not meet up with any ghosts, but I am told they are as warm and welcoming as the rest of the staff (Savannah is big on evening tours through the town, graveyards and old historic homes in search of personalities who once resided there and never left. As of May 28, 2023, prices found for a 1-night stay for 2 adults at Eliza Thompson House, Historic Inns of Savannah Collection on start from 209, excluding taxes and fees. (No one was pulling down any statues there, thank God). Full of historic character and Southern charm Romantic getaway for couples (no children allowed) Walking distance to shops, parks, and cafes Lovely rooms. While we stayed in Savannah at the Eliza Thomson House only one night/day, we were able to enjoy true Southern hospitality as is often spoken of when visiting and is the pride of US states in the south. So we were able to book the Eliza Thompson House. We had to find a hotel to stay in overnight for our flight out Friday. Jet Blue did say they had flights out of Savannah, 360 miles away (road trip). The garden courtyard, with its Koi pond (and iron sculpture by late Georgia-based artist Ivan Bailey), makes for a tranquil hideaway, while the house itself dates from 1847. But Irma was on her way and Delta (bad) would not change our flight so we could leave early and there were no flights available anywhere nearby for us to get home to Long Island, NY. About our rating system One of Savannah’s most attractive mansions, Eliza Thompson House is another spot perfect for a romantic getaway. We hope to see you again in the future. My loving wife and I were looking forward to spending a wonderful week on vacation in Sarasota Florida. I sincerely hope that you saw my response to your other review and would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak with you further. We do not surprise our valued guests by added on fees and would never do so. The only thing that is not added on to your total cost is the city mandated $15 parking pass as not every guest will be having a vehicle. The total cost of your room, which is broken down in detail before you complete the booking process, includes the cost of the room, the $25 amenity fee, the $5 transportation fee, and the 13% sales tax. I would also like to mention that we have absolutely no control over sales taxes nor the Georgia government mandated transportation fee of $5, nor the City of Savannah daily parking pass fee of $15. We hope that this work will lead to high guest satisfaction and a better experience for all future guests. We will be sure to address the concerns that you mentioned in this review when we approach the work for the room you stayed in. Work has started already in a few rooms and we hope to have all bathrooms newly renovated and completed by the end of 2023. Please know that we are working very hard with our corporate office, design team, and contractor team to upgrade all of our bathrooms in the near future. While we are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us, we do sincerely apologize for the issues that you had during your stay.
